Light in our Darkness | Advent Week 4

“Advent bids us take a fearless inventory of the darkness.” -Fleming Rutledge)

Few words feel more out of place at Christmas time than – darkness. To speak of darkness in a season of elves, reindeers, and Santa Claus – feels slightly out of place. When we think of Christmas we think – light.

And we should. Advent means arrival. Coming. Christmas is the season we dwell on the incredible truth that the Creator has visited His creation. The Maker has become a guest among all He has made. The Light has invaded the darkness. That is the good news of Advent. Light – in the midst – of darkness. Light – overwhelming the darkness – because our God has come among us.
