What is a Life Group?
A Life Group is a small gathering of people from our church that meets in homes during the week to grow in becoming Fully Alive in Jesus (John 10:10).
We do this by embracing a shared identity together as a Christ-centered community:
We Commit to One Another
Life Groups are where we journey through life consistently, together. This level of community requires us to prioritize our group with our time, our attention, and our presence.
We Care for One Another
Life Groups are the primary place we give and receive care as a church family. This is where we watch over one another, show up for each other, and know enough about one another to care for each other well.
We Learn from Jesus Together
Life Groups are the primary place where we learn to apply Jesus' teaching and example to our lives in community. Groups help us to become more like Jesus through shared practices, intentional conversations, and applying biblical truth in our lives outside of Sunday morning.
We Pray Together
We can only be fully alive in Jesus with God’s help. Life Groups are where we regularly pray with and for one another, for our church, for our neighborhoods, for our region, and for our world.
What Happens When We Gather?
We believe that the goal of every Life Group gathering is to become more Fully Alive in Jesus together. Each group will look a little different depending on who is present and what is happening in their lives. However, we believe these four ingredients are essential for abundant life in every group:
Hospitality
Life Groups prioritize hospitality as it “sets the table” for relationships and trust
Shared Practices
Life Group weekly guides will also encourage groups to engage in shared spiritual practices regularly (fasting, prayer, service, etc.)
Discussion
Life Groups will follow a weekly guide, provided by Liberty, to dive deeper into the sermon each week.
Prayer
No matter what, Life Groups pray together every week.
How Are Life Groups Structured?
Semester-Based Group Schedules
Life Groups will launch during the same week, twice a year, following a semester schedule. Specifically, this will include a fall semester (September to November), a winter semester (January to May) and an optional break over the summer. This semester schedule allows the church to form new groups, connect new people, and support group ministry. Summer breaks are optional for groups and leaders as vacation and travel schedules dictate.
Weekly Gatherings
Life Groups have the goal of meeting every week during group semesters. We know that life happens and not every group will be able to meet every week. However, to truly live out the ministry of groups, and to minimize the amount of time individuals miss, groups strive to meet every week.
Sermon-Based Weekly Guides
Each campus will create a unique discussion guide based upon the previous week’s sermon. This will help groups to “go deeper” together around a shared text across the campuses. These guides will help prioritize care, application, prayer, and shared spiritual practices as we learn from Jesus together in community.
How many people are in a group?
Every group size and shape is going to look a little different, but typically groups are between 8 and 14 adults.
