We’re all familiar with the travels of Paul throughout the 1st century Mediterranean world. But what about the apostle John – after Paul the second most prolific author of our New Testament.

In the gospel of John, Jesus turns the care of his mother Mary over to John while on the cross (John 19:26-27). The tradition is that John was the Pastor of the Church in Ephesus for many years. What was Ephesus like in the 1st Century? Why was John exiled to Patmos? And what actually happened there?
